Evaluations for College Board Accommodations

For ACT examinees without a valid, current IEP or Section 504 plan that authorizes allowable accommodations, supporting documentation must be submitted.

Having a 504 Plan or an IEP are usually not sufficient by themselves to guarantee that accommodations will be granted by the College Board (The College Board administers the SAT, SAT II, and AP exams among others). Usually, a new evaluation that specifically addresses the accommodation you are requesting is needed to establish the basic criteria, which include a clearly-stated diagnosis that is supported by current information including the student’s educational, developmental, and medical history. Functional limitations must be described, and the recommended accommodations must be justified.

A psychoeducational evaluation at Monarch Educational and Psychological Services can offer the documentation that must be submitted to support the need for specific accommodations. Testing will be tailored to your child’s specific needs and the accommodations you are seeking, but will generally always include:

  • a comprehensive intellectual assessment
  • a complete achievement battery
  • documentation of relevant developmental, educational, and medical history

Please be aware of timelines associated with submitting documentation and plan for evaluations well in advance. Call anytime to schedule a FREE phone consultation with Dr. Ensign to discuss your needs.
